Step 1: Create Base Units

📌 Where to Find

Navigate to /app/base-units in your browser, or click Base Units under the Products section in the left sidebar menu.

📚 What Are Base Units?

Base units represent the core measurement systems used in your business. They are the foundation upon which specific units are built. For example:

Weight — base for Kilogram, Gram, Pound
Quantity — base for Piece, Dozen, Pack
Volume — base for Liter, Milliliter, Gallon
Length — base for Meter, Centimeter, Foot

Why This Step is First

Base units must exist before you can create units (Step 2). Units are required when adding products (Step 6). So base units are the very first data you need to enter.

📝 Form Fields

Click the "Add" button on the Base Units page. A popup form will appear with the following field:

Name	Text	Required	The name of the base unit (e.g., "Kilogram", "Piece", "Liter")

🎯 Step-by-Step Instructions

Go to Products → Base Units from the sidebar menu.
Click the "Add" button (top-right of the page).
In the popup form, enter the base unit name (e.g., "Kilogram").
Click "Save" to create the base unit.
Repeat for each base unit type your store needs.

💡 Recommended Base Units to Create

Here are common base units most stores need. Create the ones that apply to your business:

Base Unit Name	Typical Use
Piece	Individual items (phones, shirts, tools)
Kilogram	Weight-based products (rice, sugar, meat)
Liter	Liquid products (oil, milk, drinks)
Meter	Length-based products (fabric, cable, rope)
Box	Bulk packaging (cartons, cases)

✏️ Editing & Deleting

To edit a base unit, click the pencil icon on the row in the table.
To delete a base unit, click the trash icon. Note: you cannot delete a base unit that is being used by existing units.

Checkpoint

You should now have at least one base unit created (e.g., "Piece"). Once done, proceed to Step 2 to create specific units.
